Is it legal to drive without a hood?

So the hood on my car was covered in rust and kind of just falling apart. So I removed it, but I can’t afford a replacement right now. I’m wondering, is it legal for me to just drive it as is? Do I have to have a hood?

Good question! So, whether or not it is legal to drive without a hood depends on what state you live in. In
Oregon
and
Maryland
, specifically, it is illegal to drive without a hood.
In other states, it is technically legal. However, many places have certain driving requirements for cars without hoods. And, if a law enforcement officer judges that the lack of a hood causes unsafe driving conditions, they can still pull you over.
If you need some extra cash to purchase a new hood, you can save a ton of money on your
car insurnace
by using the free
