Resetting the Bluetooth in your BMW isn’t hard—but the process can vary depending on what type of BMW you drive. For example, if you drive an older BMW, there may be a Bluetooth “code” you have to key into your phone to connect with your system, while in newer models the Bluetooth may connect automatically.
Before you attempt a total Bluetooth reset, you may be able to correct the problem simply by deleting your friend’s phone from the system. Some BMW models have a “pairing limit” that only allows a certain number of devices to be connected simultaneously.
In most cases, resetting a BMW Bluetooth just means turning it off and back on again (like a broken computer). All you have to do is:
Turn your ignition to the On position
Navigate to your vehicle’s Settings, then select Bluetooth
Delete your phone from the list of devices
Turn both your phone and your car’s Bluetooth back on again and initiate pairing
Of course, depending on the model you drive and your vehicle’s age, those steps may look slightly different. It’s a good idea to check your BMW owner’s manual (if you have it) for more precise instructions.
