I bought a new Toyota a few months ago, and I love my new car for the most part. However, I think the GPS is a bit obnoxious and intrusive. How do you turn off the GPS in a Toyota?
GPS entirely. However, you can turn off data collection and adjust the vehicle settings to make it a bit more pleasant.
To stop your data from being collected, call Toyota and ask them to deactivate their Connected Services. Once deactivated, Toyota will no longer collect the following:
Personal Information
Location Data
Driving Data
Vehicle Health Data
You can also customize the GPS settings to make things work better. Select Navigation, then Settings on the display screen. Once in the Settings menu:
Select map settings to change the navigation system's color and theme or change the map's view.
Select Guidance settings to adjust how the system uses various route-related information on the display.
Select Audio and visual warnings to adjust the volume of alerts or to mute sound entirely. You can also change which warnings are activated and adjust how you are notified.
Select Route planning to choose the types of roads to be used or excluded in navigation and adjust the route type to be fast, short, economical, or easy.
Changing even a couple of settings will help address sources of irritation and make the GPS easier to drive with. You might need to play around with the options to find a better balance, but you should quickly notice a difference!
