I bought a new Toyota a few months ago, and I love my new car for the most part. However, I think the GPS is a bit obnoxious and intrusive. How do you turn off the GPS in a Toyota?

I’m sorry to hear you find the GPS in your car to be a bit obnoxious and intrusive but there is no way to turn off your
Toyota’sGPS entirely. However, you can turn off data collection and adjust the vehicle settings to make it a bit more pleasant and less intrusive.
To stop your data from being collected, you have to call Toyota and ask them to deactivate their Connected Services. Once deactivated, Toyota will no longer collect the following:
- Personal Information
- Location Data
- Driving Data
- Vehicle Health Data
To adjust the vehicle settings and make them less obnoxious, you need to select Navigation and then Settings on the display screen. Once in the Settings menu:
- Select map settings to change the color and theme of the navigation system or change the view of the map.
- Select Guidance settings to adjust how the system uses various route related information on the display.
- Select Audio and visual warnings to adjust the volume of warnings and alerts or choose to mute sound entirely. You can also change which warnings and alerts are activated and adjust how you are notified of warnings and alerts.
- Select Route planning to choose the types of roads to be used or excluded in navigation and adjust the route type to be fast, short, economical, or easy.
