What is the ParkSense rear Park Assist system?
I just bought a brand new Jeep Wrangler and I’m wondering about this ParkSense feature that it’s supposed to have. The guy at the dealership said it would help be back up without hitting stuff, but didn’t say much else. Is Parksense just the backup camera that shows me what’s behind me? Or is it something else?

Good question! First off, congratulations on your new
Jeep
! To answer your question, no—ParkSense is not the same as your rearview camera. It’s a separate feature. The ParkSense Rear Park Assist system is an alert system that warns you when you’re about to back into something. ParkSense works by using sensors in your rear bumper. It will activate automatically when you shift into reverse and are going less than seven mph.
If the sensor detects an obstruction, a regular alert tone will start to chime. On your dashboard display, you will also see warning lights come on that indicate the relative direction and distance of the obstruction.
As you move closer to the object, the alert tone will begin chiming faster. The alert lights will also shift positions.
If you’d rather not use ParkSense, you can turn it on or off by pushing the ParkSense button in the center control console, just below the Uconnect display.
The ParkSense Rear Park Assist system is a great safety feature that can help you avoid minor collisions while parking. For more serious accidents, you’ll need to be protected by good
