What is the BMW cruise control with brake function?

I recently purchased a BMW and had cruise control engaged on the highway, but it started braking as I went downhill. What is this function?

The
BMW
cruise control with automatic braking is a standard cruise control function that applies the brakes when the car’s speed increases to maintain the set speed. This type of cruise control will not only keep your speed on flat roads but also while going up and down hills.
Adaptive cruise control, on the other hand, is a bit different. It offers basic cruise control functions to maintain a set speed but comes equipped with a series of radar, Lidar, sonar, or cameras to maintain a specific following distance from the vehicle in front of you. You can program how far you want to follow behind a car, and adaptive cruise control will maintain the distance up to the set speed. If you come too close to the vehicle in front of you, the system will apply the brakes to maintain that following distance.
Cruise control is an awesome feature that comes in handy while driving long distances, but make sure you’re also covered with a good insurance policy. With help from
