What does HTS stand for in driving?

In my driver’s ed class, I’ve heard my teacher use the abbreviation HTS on numerous occasions. I’m not a very vocal student, so I didn’t ask what it stands for. What does HTS mean in driver’s ed?

You should speak up in class if you don’t understand something! Someone else in the class probably has the same question.
HTS stands for highway transportation system. The HTS encompasses more than just the interstates and highways, though. It’s a total system designed to improve the safety, speed, and efficiency of cargo and travel.
The HTS has three important parts:
  • Roads, which include sidewalks, interstates, residential roads, highways, freeways, and more
  • Vehicles, which include cars, trucks, semis,
    motorcycles
    , and bicycles
  • Road users, which includes pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists
Because the HTS maximizes safety and efficiency, you as a driver play a pivotal role. It’s your responsibility to pay attention and practice safe driving principles.
One of those principles is to make sure your vehicle is adequately insured at all times—it’s the law. So, whether you’re a first-time driver or you want to browse current policies and prices to find out what’s out there,
