What does HTS stand for in driving?
In my driver’s ed class, I’ve heard my teacher use the abbreviation HTS on numerous occasions. I’m not a very vocal student, so I didn’t ask what it stands for. What does HTS mean in driver’s ed?

HTS stands for highway transportation system. The HTS encompasses more than just the interstates and highways, though. It’s a total system designed to improve the safety, speed, and efficiency of cargo and travel.
The HTS has three important parts:
- Roads, which include sidewalks, interstates, residential roads, highways, freeways, and more
- Road users, which includes pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists
