How much does it cost to fix the quarter panel on my car?

After bumping a divider while driving (oops), I need to get a serious gash out of my car’s left rear quarter panel. This is definitely out of my skill level to fix, so I’ll need to take my car to a mechanic. How much will it cost to fix the quarter panel on my car?

Fixing a quarter panel may cost approximately $2,000, including labor fees.
Body panel repairs, including quarter panel repairs, are usually expensive. If the damage is extensive enough that the panel needs to be replaced, a new corner panel can cost anywhere between $500 and $1500, depending on if you use aftermarket parts or OEM.
Here are the reasons why it costs so much to get this problem fixed:
  • Costly parts: A brand new body panel costs a lot of money.
  • Labor: The quarter panel is welded on, so replacing it is a time-consuming process that adds up to hours of mechanic’s fees.
Now, here are a few ways you may be able to save money on this repair:
  • Buff: If the damage is minor and can be buffed out without replacing the entire panel, the price of repairs will be much lower.
  • Use insurance: Since you bumped a divider while driving, the damage to your quarter panel may be covered if you have
    collision insurance
—but you’ll have to pay your deductible first.
