The Kia Roadside Assistance program provides 24-hour emergency roadside services for non-collision incidents throughout the new Kia vehicle warranty period, starting with the 2014 model year.

QUICK LOOK
  • Kia roadside assistance services for towing and other minor labor services are included for the first 60 months or 60,000 miles of ownership—whichever comes first.
  • Call the hotline at 1-800-333-4KIA (4542) to initiate a claim for Kia roadside assistance services.
  • Kia owners can get additional roadside services from a car insurance provider, their cell phone company, or by purchasing an extended Kia warranty.

Kia roadside assistance is included under warranty

The Kia roadside assistance program falls under Kia’s five-year/60,000-mile factory warranty coverage in the United States and Canada.

What’s included: The Kia roadside assistance program includes reimbursement of up to $75 for the following included services:

  • Flat tire assistance
  • Towing to the nearest Kia dealer or an alternative service location
  • Dead battery jump-starts
  • Lock-out assistance
  • Fuel delivery
  • Trip interruption expense compensation

For example: If you have a breakdown and need a tow, Kia will cover you for $75 on the bill. If the total cost of the tow is $125, you’ll need to pay the remaining $50.

Some of the services have occurrence limits as well. If you run out of gas and need help, Kia will send a service provider with at most two gallons, and you can only receive this service twice a year.

What’s not included: Kia roadside assistance does not cover towing or labor services after a car accident.

How to use Kia’s roadside assistance

You can reach Kia’s roadside assistance service 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by calling their toll-free phone number:

1-800-333-4KIA (4542)

Kia’s roadside assistance and warranty program are limited to the minor mechanical issues and towing services listed above. Kia roadside services are not available in the event of a car accident.

Extended Kia warranty and roadside assistance program

The roadside assistance services listed above are also included in every Kia extended warranty package if your original Kia warranty has expired.

How much it costs: Kia owners report that an extended warranty can cost anywhere from $1,600 to $3,600 for a 10-year contract. However, Kia Motors hasn’t published this information.

Whether you extend your warranty through your Kia dealership or choose a third-party extended warranty, the total cost will depend on several factors:

  • Vehicle type: Some models are more expensive to cover than others.
  • Vehicle age and mileage: Older vehicles wear out and will cost more to cover. The sooner you extend your coverage, the better your rate will be.
  • Warranty deductible: A lower deductible usually leads to a higher overall cost.
  • Coverage length and type: Warranty coverage over a longer period will cost more

Expert tip: You may find more affordable perks through a third-party provider, as Kia’s roadside assistance is limited compared to other manufacturers.

Alternatives to Kia Roadside Assistance

If your Kia warranty has expired and you don’t want to extend your warranty through the manufacturer, there are other ways to get roadside assistance for your Kia:

  • Towing and labor coverage (under $20 a year): Towing and labor coverage is a low-cost way to get roadside assistance from most insurers—but you may need to carry comprehensive and collision coverage to qualify.
  • Cell phone companies (about $5 a month): Effortlessly linked you to a phone billing cycle—but not available from all providers.

If you already have full coverage insurance on your vehicle, buying roadside assistance coverage through your insurance company may be the most affordable option.
