Opening the gas tank on a Jeep Cherokee Latitude
is very simple, but the process varies slightly depending on the vehicle’s model year—and seeing as you didn’t provide yours, we’ll go over each possible method. If you have an older Jeep Cherokee Latitude (2014 - 2018), you can open the gas tank by pressing the fuel filler door release button on the driver’s side door trim and unscrewing the gas cap (it turns counterclockwise). Set the gas cap in the cap holder attached to the inside of the fuel filler door and insert the fuel nozzle into the fuel filler pipe to start refueling.
If you have a newer Jeep Cherokee Latitude (2019 - 2023), the gas tank can be accessed by unlocking the doors and pressing on the rear edge of the fuel filler door to open it. Once opened, you’re ready to refuel—there’s no gas cap to remove so you can simply insert the fuel nozzle into the fuel filler pipe and start pumping gas.
Before refueling, make sure you know both your Jeep Cherokee Latitude’s fuel tank capacity and the fuel recommendation for your specific engine.
Once you have finished pumping gas, replace the fuel filler cap (if you have one) by turning it clockwise until you hear an audible “click.” Firmly shut the fuel filler door to latch and lock it.
