Korean automaker Genesis just delivered its first electric vehicle to an American owner. On May 26, Los Angeles resident Patricia Wayne became the first American owner of a Genesis EV—a GV60 in “Uyuni White.”
This marks another major automaker’s contribution to the growth of the electric vehicle market in the United States.
Though it remains a tiny part of the overall car market, EVs’ steady growth in recent years has prompted many car companies to invest significantly in development of electric vehicles and the infrastructure to support them. This includes a $7.4 billion dollar investment in “future mobility solutions” from Hyundai Motor Group, Genesis’s parent company.

Taking a road trip in the first Genesis EV in America

"I've been following this car for almost a year now, and I'm embarrassed to admit how eager I've been for it to arrive,” Wayne said. “I definitely feel like a kid for the first time in a while and cannot wait to hit the road in this car. I feel so unbelievably lucky to be the first person in the U.S. to own the GV60."
Wayne participated in Genesis’s “Priority One” program a year ago, which connected drivers interested in the forthcoming EV with the closest retailer after a $500 deposit. She ultimately purchased the car from Genesis Santa Monica.
When asked about where she’d like to take her new car first, Wayne said she’d drive California’s Pacific Coast Highway on Memorial Day weekend and looked forward to visiting her favorite campground in Sequoia National Park “without leaving a trail of exhaust.”

Genesis celebrates by giving back

To celebrate the milestone, Genesis Motor America and Genesis Santa Monica each donated $10,000 to the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Monica. This is about a third of the price of a single GV60 electric vehicle, which starts at $58,890.
"The delivery of our first electric vehicle marks an important milestone for the brand," said Claudia Marquez, chief operating officer of Genesis Motor North America. "This is yet another step towards a more sustainable future, and we are pleased to be welcoming customers like Patricia to join us on this journey.”

“I recently started looking for insurance. With my past ticket, I got rejected from several companies while others charged me extreme prices. My friend referred me to
