You could rename the Mustang Black Accent Package—here’s how

Ford is all about legacy and tradition—after all, they’re the company that brought us the original Model T! But these days, Ford’s making room for innovation alongside a history of greatness: that’s how we got an all-electric version of the
F-150 pickup
, and that’s why
Ford just announced a massive $3.7B investment in Midwest manufacturing
It’s also why, instead of sticking with the tried-and-true “Black Accent Package” name, Ford’s throwing it out to the universe for an inspired new moniker. You can vote online
here
for a new name that fits what’s sure to be the sleekest version of the Mustang yet. You’ll need to share your full name with Ford, along with your email address (if you want credit for your genius in the event your name gets picked!).
Just steer clear of any names that aren’t PG-rated. While the Mustang’s an undeniably sexy car, Ford wants everyone to keep it clean—and they’ve promised to tell your mom if you cross that line.

The next-generation Mustang is still in the shadows, but Ford just dropped a major hint about its transmission

While the naming contest is a fun way for Mustang enthusiasts to get involved, a lot of people expected more news about the upcoming seventh generation of Ford’s quintessential pony car, code named the S650. Ford has confirmed that a Mustang redesign is in the works, to be manufactured at its Flat Rock Assembly Plant in Michigan—but details are still few and far between.
But one big question about the S650 might have just gotten an answer. Ford tucked a subtle hint into its announcement for the all-new Mustang, showing a manual gear shift knob in the “O” of “Generation.” That’s a big deal, since many Mustang fans are worried that that three-pedal configuration will become a part of Ford history as the company reorients towards electrification. Although an electric Mustang is certainly in the future, it doesn’t seem to be on the horizon just yet—and the manual Mustang will ride again for at least one more generation
