What is the highest elevation in Nevada?

The highest place in Nevada is Boundary Peak, located a whopping 13,140 feet (4005 m) above sea level.
Nevada is full of stunning peaks, including the White Mountains which includes Boundary Peak. This promontory is situated at the northern end of this mountain range just ¾ of a mile inside the state boundary. Boundary Peak is part of a twin peak with Montgomery Peak just over the border in
Some people think Boundary Peak is just a ridge on Montgomery Peak and thus should not be considered Nevada’s highest place. Instead, they recommend that
Wheeler Peak
receive this honor—Wheeler is located entirely in Nevada and it is just 82 feet shorter.

How do I get to Boundary Peak?

To bag this peak, get ready to sweat. To reach the highest elevation in Nevada, you’ll need to make a grueling 8-mile hike starting from a remote trailhead.
Your ascent starts in Fish Lake Valley. Take SR-264 and look for a road leading to “Trail Canyon, Boundary Peak.” You may pass several old mining buildings and casual fishermen. Four-wheel-drive is recommended as well as a high clearance vehicle. Small streams may flood the road at some points and the angle of the road may be difficult for commuter vehicles.
Start early because this hike is challenging and unpredictable. Summer lightning storms are not uncommon! Oh, and prepare for altitude sickness. Remember your water and trekking poles!
