While Mendon Twin opened in 1954, there’s nothing outdated about this drive-in movie theater. They play double features every screening day. New releases are guaranteed to keep audiences of all ages happy.
Tickets are sold online and (if available) at the box office. If you only want to view the second movie, wait until the intermission after the first screening. You’ll still have to pay the full price, however.

How to hear the movies

You will need an FM radio to hear the movies. Either use your car’s built-in radio or bring a battery-powered radio from home.
Mendon Twin is unique among drive-in movie theaters—you don’t have to be in your car to enjoy the film! Adults who sit in the beer garden are still within view of the screen.

From Table Talk pies and Italian ice to pizza and nachos, there is no shortage of delicious eats at Mendon’s snack bar. The snack bar is stocked with a variety of sweet and savory treats that will make your mouth water.
Adults can head to the beer garden for an alcoholic drink. You can sip your drink while seated by the fire pit—all in view of Screen One.
You may not bring your own food or drinks unless you have a medical need. Mendon’s is happy to provide free tap water on request.
Pro Tip You can book this theater for parties—there is a 3,600 square foot tent to keep you and your guests covered! Five days’ notice is required, and bookings cost $500 minimum.

How to hear the movies

To hear the movies, you will need an FM radio
Most people use their vehicle’s built-in radio. However, if you’re concerned about draining your car’s battery, just bring a portable battery-powered boombox from home.

The concession stand opens at 7:00 p.m. and closes approximately 15 minutes into the first screening. Cash and credit cards are accepted.
You can purchase classic movie theater snacks like popcorn, burgers, hot dogs, nachos, and candy. Try their made-from-scratch clam cakes for a real treat! A variety of cold drinks and chilled desserts are available.
No outside food or beverages are allowed unless you have some kind of medical or dietary need. Cooking is not allowed either, so leave your grill at home!

Head to Moonrise Cinemas near scenic Cape Cod Bay to enjoy a one-of-a-kind drive-in movie experience. This venue is so beloved that it even has merch! While all ages can enjoy this venue, adults will be thrilled to discover fun games like cornhole in the beer garden.

Moonrise Cinemas plays mostly older releases with seasonal appeal. For instance, in 2021 they screened Edward Scissorhands near Halloween and Home Alone near Christmas. They’re fairly active on Instagram, so we recommend checking their profile for recent updates.
Capacity at Moonrise is limited to 68 cars per screening, so arrive early to guarantee your spot. Note that minors under 14 must be accompanied by a grownup
Gates open between 4 and 5 p.m.

How to hear the movies

The easiest way to hear the movies is to use your car’s FM radio and tune it to 90.1 FM. Most newer vehicles can handle the electricity draw without completely draining the battery.
Another option is to use a portable battery-powered radio that you bring from home. Just make sure your batteries are fresh, so you don’t lose sound in the middle of the show!

The onsite snack bar is typically open from 5 to 8 p.m. There are a variety of sweet and salty goodies for sale, like pretzels, tater tots, and loaded nachos. Be sure to inform the staff if you have any food allergies.
Adults can show ID and order wine, cocktails, and craft beer. Enjoy them in the beer garden with friends or in your vehicle. We recommend the beer garden, where you can play cornhole and giant Jenga.
No outside food or drinks are allowed. Coolers will be confiscated, so consider yourself warned!
Pro Tip Moonrise Cinemas allows walk-ins! Foot passes are available at the gate and, if you’re quick, you can snag a picnic table.

This app is great, but the customer service is even better! Not to mention convenient! My husband and I got the lowest rate (much lower than the rates I was finding online through my own searches), quickly, and pretty much all through text message! Thank you so much for a hassle free experience👍

As of 2021, five drive-in movie theaters are left in Massachusetts.
No! You do not need to run your engine to use your car’s radio—in fact, it’s prohibited to do so in most venues. However, you do need to leave it switched onto the accessory mode.
To avoid the possibility of a dead battery, just bring a portable radio. If your battery does run out, you can always jump-start your vehicle after the movie.
Almost always. Most cancellations happen only when the weather becomes very dangerous or blocks the screen. To be certain, it’s best to check the theater’s website or call before you go.
