This Oklahoma castle was commissioned by Lew Wentz, a businessman from Pittsburgh, who moved to Ponca City, Oklahoma, to work on E.W. Marland’s oil venture.
This was a smart financial move for Wentz, as he became a millionaire in 1927. He then decided to use his earnings to serve others in the community.
Wentz Castle’s construction began in 1928 on a campground. It’s an array of stone structures featuring smaller castles surrounding the main castle. There’s also a fantastic pool on the property open between Memorial Day and Labor Day each year.

This wooden castle was opened in 1996 after more than 12,000 volunteers put in over 150,000 hours to bring to life this outdoor science playground, which was named for the brilliant Leonardo da Vinci.
There are bridges, slides, swings, mazes, and a dinosaur dig, all aimed to encourage playful learning for all ages!

What is the story of Reynolds Castle?
Also known as James E. Reynolds House and Captain’s Castle, the Reynolds Castle spans three acres of land and is built from stone mined from a nearby quarry.
This castle has octagonal towers, coal-burning fireplaces, and two-foot-thick walls insulated with sand and gravel to keep you warm.
Reynolds Castle is currently a private residence. In 1977, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

Castle Falls

What is the story of Castle Falls?
Bill Blecha, a WWI veteran and later the manager of Manhattan Construction Company, built Castle Falls in the style of structures he saw while stationed in Normandy, France during the war.
As manager of the Manhattan Construction Company, Blecha oversaw demolition and disposal efforts and was able to salvage unique architectural pieces to reuse in Castle Falls’ construction.
Initially a private residence, Castle Falls has since transformed into a popular wedding and events destination with two different dining options!
