What kind of exhibits are at the Lane Motor Museum?

The
Lane Motor Museum
currently offers six different exhibitions which focus on showcasing unique car features and models. Each exhibition is hosted in the historic former Sunbeam Bakery, which complements the era many of the displayed cars are from.

A Recipe for Speed: Open Wheel Racing

The Lane Motor Museum teamed up with the NTT INDYCAR Series to put on an open-wheel race car exhibition celebrating the first-ever Music City Grand Prix, a race car event happening in downtown Nashville. This exhibition features the museum’s open-wheel racers, popularized by Formula One (F1) and INDYCAR.

RADwood: A Celebration of the '80s and '90s

This exclusive exhibit is in partnership with
RADwood
, a car lifestyle event that celebrates the 80s and 90s. This exhibition features unique cars that showcase the automotive lifestyle of the 80s and 90s.

Stretched to Fit: Fabric-Covered Cars

This unique exhibit displays fabric-covered cars that gained popularity in the 1920s. The fabric covering was an artificial leather material that was weather-proof and cut production time down. You can see these automotive marvels for yourself by browsing this exhibit!

Oil & Water: Vehicles on the Open Road and the Open Water

This unique exhibit showcases Lane Motor Museum’s unusual land and water, or amphibious,  vehicles. You’ll be able to witness the mass-produced Amphicar Model 770 and even the one-of-a-kind 1961
Chevrolet
Corphibian. These vehicles were designed to carry passengers over land and water and are a true artifact of their time.

Wingless Wonders: Propeller-Driven Vehicles that Never Took Off

From the early 1900s to the 1970s, many car manufacturers and inventors worked on creating propeller-driven vehicles that were intended to take flight or improve road aerodynamics for a more efficient and simplified driving experience.
While none of these creative inventions ever took off, their unusual designs and creative features are exciting to look at. This exhibition features propeller-driven vehicles from the early to mid-1900s that were never truly functional but are a marvel to witness.

Stacked!

This innovative exhibition displays the strength, durability, and carrying capacity of the Lane Motor Museum’s collection of cars intended for carrying heavy loads. This exhibition inspires viewers to imagine these cars and the people and things they carried in their heydays.
