Schedule: Open Friday to Sunday, all year round, rain or shine
Ticket prices: $15 per car (cash only at gate, but credit and debit accepted at Grill)

The
411 Twin Drive-In
was opened way back in 1953 by Emory Johnson. The Twin went dark in the 1980s, but Johnson and his two sons, Rex and Carl, reopened the theater in 2001, and it’s been going strong ever since. Capacity has since been expanded to 400 vehicles, and a new screen and restaurant facility were built in 2008.

Movies

You’ll be able to catch new releases at The Twin, and double features are the name of the game every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
As far as rules go, be sure to keep your headlights off (including parking and cargo lights) throughout the duration of the movie. Any loud motors (such as diesels, duals, etc.) should be OFF during showtime, and loud music and profanity are banned. Keep your speed under 5 miles per hour. Pets are not permitted.
Lastly—enjoy! That’s actually one of the rules.

How to hear the movie

You can hear the film’s audio via your vehicle’s FM radio.

Snacks

If you like to eat when watching a movie, you are in luck—the 411 Twin offers a smorgasbord of edible delights, ranging from burgers to chicken, hot dogs to pizza, nachos to cheddar jalapeño poppers, and lots of candy and other snacks.
You can even call ahead and order your food if you want to skip the lines at the drive-in.

Cinemagic Drive-In Theatre

Number of screens: 1

The outdoor
Cinemagic Drive-In Theatre
is part of a bigger complex, including the indoor Cinemagic Theatre, which has five additional screens. The family-owned complex opened in 1997 and was put on the market in October 2021. The Cinemagic Drive-In boasts an 80 car capacity, and the screen is also solar-powered!
In terms of house rules, pets are not permitted at Cinemagic’s outdoor screen. The Cinemagic Drive-In can be rented out for private functions, but only between Sunday and Thursday.

Movies

You’ll be able to catch all the latest releases at Cinemagic, though features do vary between the outdoor drive-in and Cinemagic’s five indoor screens.

How to hear the movie

You can tune in to the film’s sound by using your car’s FM radio.

Snacks

Cinemagic does sell concessions, but they aren’t listed on its website—so you’ll have to head over to see what snacks are on offer.

Pets are permitted at the Sand Mountain Twin, and to answer your question, yes—they’re allowed to talk and text, too.

Snacks

There are plenty of snacks on offer, ranging from popcorn to candy, and pickles to deep-fried Oreos
Also, outside food and drinks are permitted at the Sand Mountain Twin, so bring all the moon pies, pork rinds, and Goo Goo Clusters you can handle. And don’t forget some snacks for the dog. After all, what canine doesn’t love Snausages and a movie?

FAQs

There are seven drive-in theaters in Alabama.
No. In order to use your radio, you can keep your car in Accessory Mode instead of having your ignition running the whole time. But before you do this, keep the car running for a few minutes while you’re parked so that the battery will last.
It depends on the theater, but many drive-ins still play in the rain. You can always call ahead of time to double-check before you leave your house.
