Would insurance companies compensate for modifications to a car?

How do I know if my car insurance company will pay for the replacement cost? I've made some modifications to my VW Golf and I'm worried they won't be covered in an accident.

“It depends on the
car insurance
company and policy, but a standard auto insurance policy won’t pay for modifications unless you have specialized coverage.
Let’s say your car is a total loss and your car insurance company wants to pay you for the
actual cash value (ACV)
of the vehicle. Without custom parts and equipment coverage, they likely won’t pay out any additional money for your modifications.
Even with specialized coverage, you have to prove the modifications you made increased the vehicle’s value. It’s a good idea to save your receipts for the cost of modifications, just in case.
Should your current insurance company not offer specialized coverage, shop around. If you’d rather leave the hard work of gathering quotes for customized coverage to someone else, use the
Jerry
app. Jerry collects quotes from up to 50 top insurance companies and delivers the best deals to your phone in minutes for free.”
