“Renters insurance will not cover your legal fees in this case. The liability coverage on your policy covers things such as damage that you may do to the home or injuries to a visitor. Owing past-due rent is not a covered loss on renters insurance, so therefore your legal fees stemming from this situation would not be covered.

Can I make a claim on my neighbor's home insurance for damage to my car?
"At my townhouse complex, people access the residential parking lot through backyard fence doors. Due to my parking spot's location, I have to park my car very close to the doors. Recently, on a windy day, my neighbor's unclosed door flew open and hit my car, causing a dent. Will my neighbor's homeowners policy cover this damage to my car? "
