Will my renters insurance cover me in a legal dispute with my landlord over missing rent?
My landlord filed a lawsuit against me for rent owed. Will my renters insurance cover my legal fees?
“Renters insurance will not cover your legal fees in this case. The liability coverage on your policy covers things such as damage that you may do to the home or injuries to a visitor. Owing past-due rent is not a covered loss on renters insurance, so therefore your legal fees stemming from this situation would not be covered.
