Will my car insurance rates still go up after I started a claim and then decided to settle out of pocket?

I got in a car accident and filed a claim with Allstate. The other driver and I later decided to settle damages out of pocket instead. I dropped my claim, but will it still have an impact on my premium?

“Since you intially filed a claim with
Allstate
, the information regarding the crash will ultimately go into your comprehensive loss underwriting exchange (CLUE) report. So even though you dropped your claim, the information will be there for insurers to see moving forward.
As for whether this dropped claim will impact your premium, that depends on Allstate and any other insurers you may switch over to in the future. Some will hike your rate, others won’t. The only way to know for sure is to contact them and ask.”
