Will Louisiana car insurance cover flood damages to my vehicle?

Does my car insurance cover flood damage? I live in Louisiana in a flood zone. I have the basic requirements for car insurance in my state but want to be prepared in the event disaster strikes.

While it is fine to have the minimum requirement for auto insurance in Louisiana, this basic coverage will not cover the damages from a flood.
What the minimum car policy will provide is liability coverage, which includes bodily injury liability and property damage liability.
To protect your vehicle in the event of a flood, you’ll need to add comprehensive coverage to your car insurance policy. Doing so could mean saving yourself from paying thousands of dollars on repairs or replacement of your vehicle.
Beyond flooding, comprehensive insurance will make sure you’re covered in situations that are beyond your control, including:
But it is important to note that comprehensive insurance will not cover water damage that is related to negligence like leaving a window open during a rainstorm or slow leaks from a lack of maintenance upkeep.
