Will insurance replace a child's car seat?

My child's car seat was damaged in an accident and is no longer usable. The accident was with another vehicle on the highway. Whose insurance can I ask for claims?

“I’m so sorry about the accident! I hope everyone is recovering well.
Rest assured,
car insurance
will typically pay for the cost of replacing a child’s car seat. If the other driver was at fault, you can submit a claim to their
liability insurance
.
If you’re at fault, you can submit a claim using your own
collision coverage
. If you have
comprehensive coverage
, you can also see if your insurance will cover the car seat.
Should you have neither coverage, call your insurance or speak with your claims adjuster. Many states require car insurance companies to reimburse or replace car seats after an accident.
If you are having difficulty getting your car seat replaced, consider looking into other providers. While it won’t help you right now, finding a company that will reimburse you for a car seat can help you in the future.
You can ask various insurance companies about their rules regarding car seats. You can also try using the
