Will home insurance cover foundation repair?
I am in the process of selling my home, so I scheduled an inspection. The inspector notified me of cracks in my foundation that will need to be repaired before I put my house on the market. Does home insurance cover foundation repairs?

covered peril
named in your policy. Unfortunately, most of the events that damage your foundation by causing it to shift, crack, or settle unevenly are not covered by your standard home insurance policy. Your home insurance policy will not cover foundation repairs caused by these events:
- Pressure from tree roots
- Poor construction
- Lack of maintenance
- Wear and tear damage including settling, cracking, bulging, or expansion
