Will GEICO drop me if I drive for Uber?

I’m looking to earn some extra cash, so I’m thinking about becoming an Uber driver. My friend told me that driving for a rideshare company can sometimes mess with your car insurance. Will GEICO drop me if I drive for Uber?

No, GEICO won’t drop you for becoming an Uber driver, but you do have to let them know your plans and update your
CAR insurance
policy with the relevant coverage.
Your personal policy won’t protect you if you get into an accident with an Uber passenger in your vehicle, so you’ll have to add GEICO’s hybrid rideshare coverage to your plan.
This optional insurance provides
liability coverage
and also pays for any accident-related medical bills or property damage incurred during the times you’re logged into the Uber app and accepting rideshare requests. They also offer a convenient low-deductible option for drivers worried about potential costs.
