Will a turbo kit on a Honda Fit really give me more horsepower?

I’m on a budget. That said, I came across a 2014 Honda Fit (dirt cheap) and now I’m thinking about how much fun it would be to trick it out with a turbo kit. Will a turbo kit on a Honda Fit really give me more horsepower?

Taking the subcompact and economical Fit and turning it into a sporty ride can be done fairly easily. Keep in mind that a turbo kit will run you between $2,000-$4,000. But if you’re saving money on the base price—and want to turn heads and add horsepower—why not?
Honda aficionados say that the first and second-generation (2009-2014) Fits are the best ones to customize, so you’d be making a good choice with a 2014 model. A supercharger kit will boost the 2014’s 1.5L L4 SOHC 16-valve stock engine up by about 200 horsepower. The result? Your 117 hp 5-speed would be ramped up to almost 400 hp.
Newer models are not so adaptable (2015 and later), but you can find aftermarket parts that will give you added power, just not up to 200 hp.
Keep in mind that by customizing the Fit, you’ll be increasing its value. This is something you’ll want to explore with your insurance company.
Enjoy your new ride!
