Why won't the dealer discuss the terms of my car loan over the phone?

I was approved for a car loan through the dealer, but they won't discuss the terms over the phone. I asked why and they just said I'd have to come into the dealership. Is this normal? Why won't the dealer discuss my financing terms over the phone?

“A
dealer
wanting you to come in to discuss the terms of your financing is relatively normal.
In some instances, privacy laws may prevent what dealerships can discuss over the phone. That’s not to say they can’t discuss the financing terms by phone.
It’s more likely that they want to have a better shot at a sale by discussing them in person. If you don’t want to go into the dealership, you don’t have to. You could balk at the offer and go somewhere else.
By doing so, you might cause the dealership to discuss the terms of the
loan
over the phone.
Always negotiate with a dealership and don’t be afraid to walk away.
