Why won't my windshield wiper turn off?

Please help! I have no idea why this is happening or how to stop it, but my windshield wipers are stuck on. Whenever the car is running, they are flapping at full speed like there is a hurricane going on. What would cause something like that?

There are a few possible reasons why your windshield wiper won’t turn off. The two most common causes of issues like this are that you’re windshield wiper controls are broken or that the small metal sensor tab inside the windshield wiper transmission is bent out of place.
You’ll need an automotive electrician to set things straight again if they are broken.
If the malfunction is the result of a bent senor tab, on the other hand, there’s a genuine possibility that you could fix it yourself.
Start by removing the foam and plastic covers in the trench at the base of the wiper. Look down into that trench and find the sensor tab. You should be able to tell with a visual inspection if the tab is bent or not. If it is, gently bend it back to the correct position.
If your wipers are still going after that, it might be time for professional help.
