Why won’t my Prius shut off?

I’m not sure what’s going on but my Prius won’t shut off. What would cause that and how can I fix it?

I’m sorry to hear that, I’m sure that’s very frustrating! But it’s more common than you might think. The reason why your
Toyota Prius
won’t turn off is most likely because the combination meter has failed. This is pretty common in the Prius, but there’s a quick way to get it to shut off.
Here’s what to do:
  • Insert your Prius smart key into the key slot in the dashboard—it’s just under the power button.
  • Press the power button and hold it down.
  • Then, just remove the key from the slot and the power should shut off.
Hopefully, when you restart your Prius, the combination gauge will have reset. If it keeps on failing though, you may need to have it replaced.
I hope that helps! Don’t forget to save some money on your Prius’s
