Why isn't my car loan on my credit report?
I just checked my credit for the first time since I took out my car loan and the car loan didn’t show up. Why is that? I was hoping that the loan would help me build credit so I’m a little disappointed. Why isn’t my car loan on my credit report?

I’m sorry to hear that! There are a few different reasons that your car loan might not be showing up on your credit report. Some of the potential reasons include:
- It’s a brand new loan: If your loan is new enough, it may not appear on your credit report for 30 to 60 days.
- Your lender doesn’t report to your credit bureau: Some lenders won’t report to all three credit bureaus, which will keep the loan off of your credit report. If this is the case, you may need torefinance your loanwith a new lender in order to see the loan on your credit report.
- There was an error: While it’s not common for reporting mistakes to occur, it is possible that there was an error in reporting your account. In this case, you’ll need to contact your lender to get the issue fixed.
If it’s been over 60 days since you took out your loan, though, it’s a good idea to contact your lender to learn more about why it might not appear on your credit report.
