Why is there a ticking noise in my 2017 Ram 1500?

My used 2017 Ram 1500 has started to make a ticking noise while I drive and I can’t figure out where it’s coming from. I’m worried that the noise is a symptom of a larger issue, but I don’t want to bring it in for repairs if I don’t have to. Why is my 2017 Ram 1500 making a ticking noise?

It’s wise to be aware of any unusual noises coming from your vehicle. When it comes to the 2017
Ram 1500
, the ticking noise you’ve been hearing could be the result of a variety of potential problems.
If you’re driving the Dodge Ram Hemi 5.7L, you’re not alone in experiencing this noise. In fact, it’s a common occurrence in this vehicle trim. With this particular vehicle, Dodge has stated that the noise is usually normal and harmless.
Other potential causes for the tick include:
  • Broken or loose exhaust manifold bolts
  • Loose spark plugs
  • Faulty lifters
  • Lack of lubrication
  • Low quality fuel Due to the variety of potential causes and wide range of severity, you should take your Dodge to a certified dealer or repair to have the noise diagnosed. While it may take an extra few dollars and hours, it’s better to resolve the issue than ignore it.
