Why is my sister paying less for her car insurance than me?

"My sister and I have the same car insurance company and we both need full coverage on our vehicle.

She's a few years younger than me and has a clean driving record. I was in a not-at-fault accident two years ago. We also have the same lender for our car loans. Why is she paying less than me?"

“While you and your sister have similar situations and are with the same carrier, rates vary among drivers. A variety of factors go into determining insurance rates, including your driving record, age, type of vehicle, and credit history (in some states).
Although your sister is younger than you, her clean driving record is most likely helping to reduce her rate. Any type of accident or claim can influence your rates. even a not-at-fault accident.
Another factor is coverage limits. If your sister has lower
liability car insurance
limits than you, she will also have a lower rate. You can look at your sister’s policy to see how yours may differ from hers.
You always have the option to shop around. While your current carrier may not be offering a lower rate, it may be possible to find
cheap car insurance
and a rate similar to your sister’s. “
