Why is my policy with The General low but the price from all the other insurance companies so high?

"I just moved to Florida and started getting insurance prices for my car. I have tried every insurance company I could think of and the prices here are crazy high! Then The General quoted me a really low policy, so low that I am a little nervous. Why would a policy with them be price so differently?"

“When comparing premiums with several insurance carriers, it is crucial to make sure all of the coverages are the same.
Florida’s insurance requirements are unique because drivers are not required to carry
bodily injury liability
coverage. The minimum needed to drive is
property damage
and personal injury protection(PIP). Take another look and make sure that
The General
has bodily injury coverage listed in your quote; if not, that is why the price is so different.
While bodily injury liability isn’t required, it is strongly recommended to carry this protection anyway. Each driver’s PIP coverage will cover medical payments. Once this limit is exhausted or if there is a lawsuit due to lost wages or pain in suffering, the bodily injury liability would kick in. If you decline this coverage, you would be held personally responsible for the overages.”
