Why is my Jeep making a ticking noise when accelerating?

I’m not sure why, but my Jeep started making a ticking sound when I hit the gas. It doesn’t seem like a big deal, but I want to make sure it’s not going to cause problems down the line. What causes a ticking noise when I accelerate my Jeep?

Your Jeep may be making a ticking noise when accelerating due to its oil level. If an oil change doesn’t fix the problem, other common causes of a ticking noise are:
  • Worn hydraulic lifters
  • Exhaust manifold gasket leak
  • Bad purge solenoid valve
Ticking sounds are also more common in older Jeeps and on cold days. If you still can’t locate the cause of the ticking, it might be time to call your mechanic to see what your options are.
