Why is my 2017 Nissan Titan engine making a ticking noise?

I’ve had my Nissan Titan for a few years now and until now, I haven’t had any serious issues with it. Lately, the engine’s started making a weird ticking sound. Should I get it checked?

It’s always a good idea to get any noticeable changes in your engine performance checked! There are a few explanations for why your 2017
Nissan Titan’s
 engine is making a ticking noise. Thankfully, some of them are less serious than others.
Here are the most common reasons your Titan’s engine is making a ticking sound:
  • Low oil level or pressure
  • Ignition system issue
  • Exhaust leak
  • Liftors sticking
  • Effects of cold or hot weather
To rule out a simple fix, check your oil level and perform an oil change to see if this gets rid of the ticking sound—make sure you’re using the manufacturer-recommended oil grade! However, if an oil change doesn’t solve the problem, calling your mechanic is the next step. Some issues may require a drive belt replacement or an engine leak inspection.
