Why is it that my 2015 Buick Encore trunk won't open?
I was getting groceries this afternoon, and when I got home, I couldn’t get my trunk open! We had to crawl into the backseat to get everything out. Why won’t my 2015 Buick Encore trunk open?

Oh no! There could be a variety of reasons why your 2015
Buick Encore
trunk won’t open. Since it sounds like you could open it without a problem at the grocery store, it’s possible something got in the way while it was closing, or it just wasn’t able to latch properly.Some other possible reasons why your 2015 Buick Encore trunk won’t open include:
- Faulty liftgate power motor
- Latch problems
- Liftgate strut problems
- Faulty switches
- Blown fuse(s)
- Rusted components, or parts that need lubrication
From the inside of your Buick Encore’s cabin, in the cargo area, there is a tab near the liftgate latch that you can remove to manually release the latch, which might allow you to get your liftgate open with the help of someone pulling from the outside.
That said, don’t want try too hard to force open the liftgate—you don’t want to damage any other parts in the process! If you can’t get it open yourself, you’ll probably want to take it to a mechanic, who should have the proper tools to open it up and take a look at the problem.
