Why is gas so expensive in Ohio?

I just moved to Ohio from Georgia and went to fill up my car only to see insanely high gas rates. Why are they so expensive here?

No matter where you go, gas prices have gone through the roof since the start of COVID and the invasion of Ukraine. Gas is so expensive in
Ohio
due to:
  • Seasonal trends
  • Increasing cost of crude oil
  • Volatile supply and demand
  • State sales tax
That said, fuel prices are still slightly cheaper than in other states—regular unleaded is $4.865 per gallon, while diesel is $6.077 per gallon—but they’re still pricey.
