Why is gas so expensive in Missouri?

I’ve been living in Missouri for the past 46 years, and I’ve never seen gas prices as high as they are now. What’s contributing to the spike in fuel costs?

Gas prices are high in
Missouri
 due to several factors, including:
  • Increasing fuel demands
  • Rise in crude oil prices
  • Decrease in fuel supply
But Missouri actually has some of the lowest gas prices in the country, with the average cost for regular unleaded fuel sitting at $4.589 per gallon and the price of diesel at $5.373 per gallon.
Regardless, compared to $2.809 per gallon last year, prices have jumped exponentially.
