Why is gas so expensive in Illinois?
I can’t find any gas stations with affordable prices in Illinois right now. I even drove outside of Chicago just to see if I could find a better price, and the rates were still crazy! Why is gas so expensive right now?

Gas is definitely expensive in

right now, but the problem is actually affecting people nationwide. The reason for the high prices is high demand coupled with low supply. People want to drive places for the summer, particularly since most COVID restrictions have been lifted, but there isn’t much crude oil or gas to be found in the U.S. right now.The reason for the low supply is Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The invasion upset the oil market, and President Joe Biden also banned imports of oil or gas from Russia following the attack. This caused a short supply of oil and, consequentially, higher gas prices.
