Why is gas so expensive in Colorado?

I moved to Colorado recently and I really want to use my car to explore, but gas prices are so high right now that it doesn’t feel worth it. Why is gas so expensive here?

, but rather overseas. Gas is expensive everywhere in the United States right now due to a national gas shortage, caused partially by the war between Russia and Ukraine.
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine upset the oil market, causing supply issues for many major gasoline suppliers in the United States. This problem was furthered by the ban on imported oil and gas from Russia, which was implemented by President Biden. These two factors caused the supply of gas to go down just as demand began to climb for the summer months.
