Why is car insurance so expensive in Georgia compared to Florida?

I paid $100 a month in Florida. When I moved to Georgia and changed my policy address, my insurance company told me it was going to cost $300 a month for liability only. Why is my rate so much more expensive here?

“The main reason why your insurance may be more expensive in Georgia is that its state minimum car insurance requirements are significantly higher than Florida’s. When you changed your address, your policy’s coverage limits were adjusted to match Georgia’s minimum requirements.
The area you moved to could also be influencing your rate. If there are a lot of claims and accidents where you live, your insurance rate will reflect that.
If you’re not able to afford the new rate with your insurance company after changing your address, you should look at other carriers. You can request car insurance quotes online to see if there is a better rate available elsewhere.
You should be able to find cheap car insurance with another company if you have a clean driving record and you only want the state-minimum coverage. If you want cheap car insurance quotes fast, go to Jerry. “
