Why is Apple CarPlay not available on my BMW?
I want to use Apple CarPlay for my BMW, but I remember a while back it was pretty pricey. Is there a way I can get Apple CarPlay for free?

As of 2020, Apple CarPlay is available on your
BMW
free of charge. All you need to do is download the service and connect it to your vehicle.After recent software updates from BMW, some Bimmer drivers noticed issues with their Apple CarPlay. If this applies to you, here’s what you can do to get it working again:
- Check that CarPlay isn’t “Restricted” on your phone by going to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions.
- Tap Allowed Apps
- If CarPlay is disabled, enable it.
OR
- If that didn’t work, check that Bluetooth, WiFi, and Siri are activated on your mobile device.
- Unpair and re-pair your phone. This should solve the problem, but if you still can’t connect, proceed to the next step.
- Push the volume knob in and hold it. This should reboot the infotainment system and work out any bugs in the software.
OR
- If you still can’t connect, check for and install any software updates on your phone.
- Ensure you’re in a location with ample signal for both WiFi and Bluetooth. If you don’t have an ample signal, your BMW won’t be able to pick up the information being sent from your device.
If Apple CarPlay still isn’t available after trying these fixes, it’s time to head to your dealership for a software update.
