Why does the EPC light come on when I'm accelerating?

Whenever I accelerate in my Nissan, the Electronic Power Control (EPC) light pops on my dashboard. What gives? Why does the EPC light come on when I'm accelerating?

Way to be on top of car upkeep! The Electronic Power Control (EPC) light indicates an issue with your throttle system.
The throttle system controls the engine’s power by regulating how much air or fuel is entering the engine. The throttle system is directly involved in accelerating, so it makes sense the light would turn on during acceleration.
The EPC light indicates an issue with your throttle body, accelerator pedal, traction control, or cruise control. These are some pretty complex systems, so you should head to a mechanic once you get the EPC light to sort these issues out.
