Why does my 2017 Honda Civic have a ticking noise?

My 2017 Honda Civic has been reliable and steady since I got it, but I’ve been a bit concerned lately. There’s a ticking noise that I’ve noticed, but I’m not sure if it’s an issue since it still drives normally. What could be causing a ticking sound in my Civic?

Any noise coming from your car’s engine is cause for pause! When it comes to your
2017 Honda Civic
, the ticking noise could indicate a low oil level, an ignition system failure, or an exhaust leak.
If you’re apt with your mechanic skills, you could pop the hood and take a look at the potential issues yourself. Taking your Civic to a mechanic is an even better option since you’ll get reassurance about whether or not your car has a maintenance issue.
There’s also a chance that direct injection could be behind the sounds you’ve been hearing. With the “tumble motion” direct injection promotes in the intake charge, Honda’s vehicles achieve high fuel efficiency and better combustion. This feature was introduced in 2012, so it could be causing unwanted noises in your engine.
As long as you continue
routine maintenance
on your Honda Civic, it should be capable of staying with you past the 200,000-mile mark—even with some occasional ticking.
