Why did the rate of my car decrease so much after my husband and I combined policies?

"Why are car insurance rates cheaper for married people? I am recently married and my husband and I decided to combine auto policies to make paying the bill easier. We shopped around and GEICO came back with the best price. I noticed both cars were cheaper together than when the policies were separate."

“Congratulations on getting married!
The main reason you see that decrease is due to the multi-vehicle discount you are probably receiving now. Having more than one car to insure can save you anywhere from 10%-25% per vehicle! Also, married drivers tend to have a better rating than unmarried drivers.
When you combined the policies, did you make any other changes? If your address is different, the rate could have decreased due to the garaging address and annual mileage.
Shopping for car insurance online and comparing coverages is a great way to make sure you are getting the best rate. I am happy that everything worked out so well for you!”
