Why did Acura skip the 2021 MDX model year?

I want to buy a car and I really like the 2020 model Acura MDX, but I wanted to go ahead and pay a little more for a newer model. However, I noticed that Acura skipped the 2021 model. Why did they skip the 2021 MDX model year? Are they going to release a 2022 MDX?
