Why aren’t the dash lights in my 2005 GMC Canyon working?

I drive a 2005 GMC Canyon and recently my dash lights have been flickering on and off, but now they won’t turn on at all—why aren’t the dash lights in my 2005 GMC Canyon working?

Without more specific information, it’s hard to say what might be causing your 2005
GMC Canyon
dash lights to stop working, but it could be:
  • An issue with the grounding point
  • A loose switch connection
  • A dirty circuit board
If there’s an issue with the grounding point, you may need to sand down the inner fender and ground block, after which you should use a star washer to screw down the fender side to ensure a solid ground.
If that doesn’t work, you may need to take apart the dimmer switch and check to ensure that there are no loose or worn wires causing a short or failed contact point.
If, once again, that doesn’t fix the issue, try removing the circuit board and giving it a thorough clean—dielectric grease can sometimes build up and trap grime, shorting the circuit paths. After cleaning, re-grease the connection prongs and reinstall the circuit board.
Properly working dash lights are key to keeping you safe on the road—but if something happens and you get in an accident, you’ll want a good insurance policy to have your back. Fortunately, licensed car insurance super app
