Who owns Fiat?

I’ve always been a huge fan of Fiat, even though some people have some off-color remarks to make about its reliability. However, I recently heard that Fiat was sold or merged with another company, but I don’t know if it’s true. Who owns Fiat today?

After a long hiatus from American markets, Fiat made its triumphant return with the purchase of Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-RAM in 2014. However, European-based automaker Stellantis merged with Fiat on January 4, 2021, making Stellantis the fifth-largest car manufacturer in the world.
In terms of global sales, Stellantis trails only GM, Volkswagen, Hyundai, and Toyota. The company also has 16 brands under its umbrella, including famous name plates such as:
  • Fiat
  • Alfa Romeo
  • Jeep
  • Chrysler
  • RAM
  • Dodge
  • Opel
  • Peugeot
  • Maserati
  • Vauxhall
  • Citroen
