Who owns Aston Martin?

I’ve read that many luxury brands around the country are owned by other companies or investors. I didn’t know if that was true of automakers as well. Do other companies have a stake or own Aston Martin?

Although Aston Martin still has a controlling interest in its company, it’s no longer close to the majority owner. Ownership of Aston Martin is split between several individuals and private equity firms, including:
  • 33% ownership by Investindustrial, a European private equity firm
  • 28% ownership by Kuwait Investor Group
  • 20% ownership by Canadian billionaire Lawrence Stroll, who also has an investment in the Aston Martin F1 Team
  • 4% Daimler (
    Mercedes-Benz
    )
The remaining 15% of equity in the company remains with Aston Martin, although sluggish sales and liquidity issues may cause this to go even lower.
