Who do you call when your keys are locked in the car?

"If I lock my keys in the car, who can I call? My used car only came with one key. I know I can order another one from the dealer, but I don't have the extra money right now."

“Locking your keys in the car is something that happens to everyone at least once in their lives! It’s wise to have a plan in place.
You can call a locksmith service specializing in cars like Pop-a-Lock or check with a local towing company. If you have a roadside assistance package with your insurance company, they can probably assist you too. Most carriers have a $75-$100 limit on locksmith services.
Check your key and your car’s owner’s manual to verify what type of key you have. If you have an older model vehicle, a replacement key might only be between $4-$10 dollars. If you have a transponder key, a duplicate can be around $250 or $500 if you have a luxury car. Get prices from auto locksmiths and the dealer to see who has the lowest price for duplicate keys.
You may want to check with your
towing and labor coverage
to see if locksmiths will be covered.”
