Which type of Electric Vehicle has the Largest Battery?
I’m a college student and a car fanatic saving up to buy an electric car after I graduate. I’ve been doing a bit of research on electric cars, and all the types seem to have different specifications. Which type has the largest battery?

)! You’re right, there are different types of electric vehicles but the one with the largest battery is definitely the fully electric car (EV). Here are the three main engine types (from smallest to largest battery):
- Hybrid Electric Vehicles: this type has a much larger battery than gas-powered cars, but the battery itself is not strong or large enough to power the car on its own.
- Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles: this type is like a true hybrid as it can run on both gasoline and a charged electric battery. The battery is larger than that of a hybrid, but not large enough to power the car for more than 40 miles (64.4 kilometers) on average.
- Electric Vehicles: these vehicles do not use gas-combustion power at all, and therefore need the largest battery to operate. Every feature of this car runs on electric power so while the exhaust pipes are emission-free, they need to be charged regularly.
While gas-powered cars run on lead-acid batteries, newer electric vehicles use [lithium-ion batteries] (https://getjerry.com/insights/solid-state-vs-lithium-ion-batteries) which last significantly longer. This said, even the biggest electric car batteries are not made for regular long drives.
