Which SUV is better, a Kia or a Hyundai?
I’m looking to test drive some SUVs and want to narrow it down to a single dealership. Who makes better SUVs, Kia or Hyundai?

Unfortunately, you might have to do a bit of test-driving yourself, as the Kia and Hyundai brands are quite similar. They’re both based in South Korea, and Hyundai actually owns 51% of Kia! Kia SUVs look a bit more sporty, while Hyundai’s look more conservative, but otherwise they have a lot of similarities.
Let’s take a closer look at each brand to try to determine which might have the best SUV for you.
Kia offers six crossovers and SUVs in their lineup, including the Soul, Seltos, Niro, Sportage, EV6, Sorento, Telluride, and Carnival. Hyundai has five—the Venue, Kona, Tucson, IONIQ 5, Nexo, Santa Fe, and Palisade. This means that both have SUVs in just about every size, style, and powertrain option, including an all-electric option.
But how do these SUVs actually perform? Well, the Kia brand earns an overall Reliability Rating of 4 out of 5 from RepairPal, which ranks it 3rd out of 32 for all car brands. Hyundai has the same ranking, landing just behind Kia at 4th out of 32. The brands are truly neck-and-neck.
So which makes a better SUV? It really just depends on what you’re looking for in an SUV, and it might just come down to aesthetics.
